Darlene & Mark Knott’s Kenyan Safari to Laikipia and Maasai Mara

October 20, 2020 Client Trip Reports

We just returned from a wonderful 3 week trip to Kenya, arranged by who else, but the best: the Africa Adventure Company!

This lioness has a GPS collar

We so often looked at each other and said “I cannot believe we are here again!” We left Kenya this year on March 16th and had no intention to return so quickly, but that was before Covid cancelled our June safari to Southern Africa. We waited, hoping for an opening.

Darlene and Mark saw many rhinos and elephants while in Laikipia

Finally, Kenya opened its borders! We called, AAC took care of the details, and we found ourselves sitting on a plane headed for Nairobi. Before you know it, we were off to Laikipia and the Maasai Mara!

Then the magic started. We were on a safari vehicle, watching and photographing animals! Pinch me, I think I am dreaming! The animal viewing was great and there were so few vehicles and people, it was jaw dropping!

A small lion pride; white rhinos are more commonly seen than black rhinos in Laikipia

The people of Kenya needed us there even more than we needed to be there. I felt so good about helping a little by being there. I got my ‘Africa experience’, but more importantly, some funds and some hope were given to the Kenyan people. The managers and staffs at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, Rekero and Naboisho were so happy to have guests and treated us royally. Our guides were very good as well.

Darlene & Mark stayed at Ol Pejeta(top) in Laikipia and both Rekero (middle) and Naboisho (bottom) in the Maasai Mara

Everything went so smoothly. A big thank you to Alison Nolting for arranging our trip. Life is a gift – don’t forget to open it!
