Rwanda8 Day | Rwanda Chimp and Gorilla Explorer Safari
Enjoy chimp trekking in Nyungwe and Cyamudongwe Forest Reserve, and then two gorilla treks in Volcanoes National Park. You will have a private driver and 4-wheel drive vehicle throughout your safari.
On arrival in Kigali you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Overnight Kigali Serena Hotel.
Depart by road to Nyungwe Forest Reserve, stopping en route for lunch in Butare Town. An optional hike through the forest for general primates can also be done this afternoon. Overnight Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel or One&Only Nyungwe House.
Enjoy a chimp trek where you will visit some of the habituated troops of chimps. You may also see L’Hoests’s monkeys, silver monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, blue monkeys, golden monkeys and red-tailed monkeys. In the afternoon, you will have a colobus monkey walk. Overnight Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel or One&Only Nyungwe House.
This morning you will have the thrill of a speed boat transfer along Lake Kivu shoreline to Gisenyi. Overnight Lake Kivu Serena Hotel.
This morning you will depart with your driver for Volcanoes National Park. The drive will take you across the beautiful Rwandan countryside. You will enjoy a golden monkey trek. Your day begins with an early morning wake-up (approx 5:30am) and then a transfer (approx 6:15am) to the park gate to commence the trek (6:30am). Here you will meet your tracker and the day will be spent tracking the Golden Monkeys. Your viewing of the Golden Monkeys will be limited to a maximum of only one hour. Onward transfer to the lodge for lunch. Classic Option: 2 nights Ingagi Park View Lodge or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. Premier Option: 2 nights Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge or Bisate Lodge or Singita Kwitonda Lodge or One&Only Gorilla’s Nest.
Today you will depart on your second gorilla trek. Following your trek, savor the memories of the morning hike and gorilla encounter with a relaxing afternoon at leisure visiting the farmlands, villages and markets that surround Kinigi and Musanze towns. A walk or drive along these rural roads is where one can really enjoy ‘street level culture’, with a fascinating blend of farmers, businessmen, bars, and shops. Overnight Kigali Serena Hotel.
This morning you will have a Kigali City Tour including a visit to the Genocide Museum, the local market and Women for Women Organization. Departure transfer for your onward scheduled flight.
