Itinerary Description
This Republic of the Congo adventure is about viewing the Western Lowland Gorilla as well as other lowland rainforest mammals. You will stay in two camps located in the heart of Odzala-Kokoua National Park. The park provides shelter for dozens of primate and duiker species, as well as large forest mega fauna such as the Western Lowland Gorillas, forest elephant, forest buffalo, lowland bongo, leopard and spotted hyena. Join the ultimate adventure - tracking gorilla on foot, forest walking trails, kayaking and river walks.
Arrive at the Brazzaville Maya Maya International Airport. Board your private charter flight to the Mboko Airstrip, Odzala-Kokoua National Park. Enjoy your 2 days gorilla tracking excursion. 3 nights Ngaga Camp.
Day 04+05
Odzala-Kokoua National Park
Following breakfast in camp, you will road transfer through the village of Mbomo on the western boundary of the Park. Once inside the Park, pass through open savannah and forest patches with views of the forest fringe and into the interior. Arrive Mboko Camp in time for lunch. Following lunch, continue on kayaks on the Lekoli River and onward to Lango Camp. 2 nights Lango Camp.
Day 06+07
Odzala-Kokoua National Park
An early morning wake-up is followed by a light breakfast and coffee on the main deck, after which we embark on our first activity for the day. This could be a walk from camp through Lango Bai and down the clear, shallow waters of the Lango Stream to its confluence with the Lekoli River. A motorized pirogue will then head upstream for two hours (stopping en route for tea/coffee) until reaching the access point to Mbouebe Bai, where a short excursion on foot reaches a concealed hide from which activities at the Bai can be observed. The return to camp includes a downstream portion of the river followed by a game drive through the savannah. Back in camp a hearty brunch and rest period awaits before you head out again later for the afternoon activity. An example of this would be a return game drive to the boat jetty followed by a pirogue trip downstream along the Lekoli River to its confluence with the larger Mambili River for sundowners. A night drive back to camp offers intriguing opportunities for seeing some of Odzala’s more secretive nocturnal creatures. Guided morning walk through the bai and enjoy breakfast overlooking the bai. Following your breakfast, depart on your adventure walk through the swamp continued by a game drive to Mboko (your luggage will be transferred separately during the swamp excursion). Arrive in Mboko Camp in time for lunch. This afternoon enjoy a walk through the forest followed by a river cruise. Activities offered are a combination of driving and/or walking and boating. 2 nights Mboko Camp.
Day 07
Odzala-Kokoua National Park
This morning enjoy a guided walk through the forest or simply take time to relax and enjoy the savannah views. Following lunch in camp, enjoy an afternoon river cruise on the Lekoli River, swimming in the Likeni River or guided forest walk. Overnight Mboko Camp.
Day 08
Odzala-Kokoua/Brazzaville
Early morning wake-up for a light breakfast before departing camp to the Mboko airstrip and arrive in Brazzaville.
