Where would AAC’s staff be on safari in Africa right now?

Last week, we asked our Facebook followers this very question. The amount of responses we received overwhelmed us! The variety of destinations and the reasons behind their selections reflects one important fact: no two clients are the same, and so customizing each an ideal safari is different as well!
We decided to ask the same question to some of our AAC staff. Some of them knew instantly, while for others, it was difficult to choose just one place in Africa. Here are their responses!
Elena Theodosiou

Elena has now been apart of the Africa Adventure Company family for 15 years. A native South African, she has extensively traveled throughout Africa. For those interested in planning a family safari, Elena’s personal experience of bringing her teenage daughter on safari (who’s also an AAC employee) would be indispensable.
Elena’s most recent safari took her to South Africa, splitting time between the beautiful, vibrant city of Cape Town and unbelievable – and in our eyes, very underrated – Tswalu Kalahari Reserve.
Destination: Mana Pools National Park

I decided to pick two destinations, one of a place I’ve been on safari to before, and one that I have yet to be – but hopefully soon!
I would love to return to Mana Pools for another safari. I would stay at Vundu Camp again – both because of the camp’s great site along the Zambezi River and so Nick Murray can be my walking safari guide! Approaching elephants and wild dogs on foot is just spectacular!
Destination: Malilangwe Game Reserve

And if it had to be a destination I haven’t been to before, I would go on safari to Malilangwe Game Reserve. Not only is it one of the most exclusive reserves in Africa, its game viewing is among the very best – especially of both white and black rhinos!
Plus, this part of Zimbabwe is like nowhere else – the scenery makes for superb backdrops for sundowners!

Szilvia Hegyi

Szilvia, originally from Hungary, has been at the Africa Adventure Company for 13 years. In that time, she has risen to become one of our Senior Safari Consultants.
She has traveled to Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic. Her favorite experiences on safari include gorilla trekking, walking with elephants in Mana Pools (Zimbabwe), and mobile tenting in Namibia’s Skeleton Coast.
As a Senior Safari Consultant, Szilvia diligently provides a high level of service to her new and repeat travelers.
Destination: Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana

Szilvia: I would love to be in Botswana right now in the Mashatu Game Reserve. Sitting at a photo hide watching what comes to the waterhole sounds like a great start to the day!
Botswana has always been a special destination for me. It was where I went on my very first safari adventure many years ago. Additionally, I was scheduled to travel to Mashatu back in May – but, like many of you this year, I had to reschedule. So I can relate to what our travelers are feeling at the moment. Once I do arrive in Mashatu, it will feel even more special for me!

For our active safariers and those passionate about photography, AAC highly suggests a visit to Mashatu. To learn more about the Mashatu safari experience, please read our “Stay Longer, Stay Remoter” blog post:
