First Place Scenery: Joe James – Baobab tree under the Milky Way. Many baobabs in the region are centuries old and can measure 100 feet high. Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana.

Second Place Scenery: Helen Reinhardt – In Namibia’s morning fog and hazy dust this desert-adapted lion was almost ghostlike slowly walking across the sand.

Third Place Tie – Scenery: Fran Castro – After the rains, a cheetah scans zebras and wildebeest on the Serengeti plains, calm before the chase.

Third Place Tie – Scenery: Mark Knott – Just after leaving Kicheche Mara Camp with our guide Jimmy Tinka he spotted a group of giraffe way off in the distance. We raced over in time to get this shot. I like the way they paired themselves off.
