Baby Gorillas Named at Kwita Izina 2017

The Kwita Izina Ceremony 2017, Rwanda named 14 baby Gorilla, 02 New Families, and a couple of adult gorilla individuals joining new families.
A real milestone in the conservation of one of the world’s most endagered species.

Fifty years ago Dr. Dian Fossey set up the Karisoke Research Center high up in the Virunga volcanoes. Today 100-plus field staff work to protect the gorillas. Kwita Izina,a time-honored tradition in which Rwandan families hold a ceremony to name newborn babies, is on September 01 each year.
