Client Trip Reports: Fall 2020

October 20, 2020 Client Trip Reports

As the seasons are shifting north and south of the equator, so too are the landscapes of East Africa. November brings the start of the short rains, and with it, the whole region transforms from dry savannah to lush, verdant terrain. This is the start of the Green Season, spanning until the end of May. It’s one of our favorite times to explore Kenya and Tanzania; In the meantime enjoy reading recent client trip reports from August-October 2020 travels.

The Wida Family

The Wida Family with Mkenda, their private guide

From Mkenda, one of AAC’s top private guides in Tanzania:

“The Wida family arrived this weekend and are doing well! While in Tarangire, we’ve seen lots of elephants, 6 lions, and we even saw a cheetah, so lucky to see one here! We are staying at Tarangire Balloon Camp and were the only people at the camp for these two nights. The staff are equipped with all standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Today the clients enjoyed visiting a primary school near Lake Eyasi. It is supported by AAC and Ziwani Lodge, where we are staying…. The kids hope their school can help solve some challenges the school is facing!

The following day we checked in at Ngorongoro Farm House. They gave us a warm welcome and followed all the SOPs. We were very lucky as we saw the Big Five… We also visited a Maasai village where we played with the kids and enjoyed the dancing by Maasai. The clients were blown away!

The Widas then boarded a charter flight to their safari’s final destination: the Northern Serengeti. They saw lions, cheetahs, giraffes, elephants, zebras, and, of course, wildebeests crossing the Mara River! They were also very complimentary of their experience at Nimali Mara Camp.”

Our September trip to Kenya was one I will never forget. My heart ached for another Africa experience, but our trip to Southern Africa for May/June was cancelled due to Covid. We waited and hoped for an opening.

Finally, Kenya opened its borders! We called, AAC took care of the details, and we found ourselves sitting on a plane headed for Nairobi.

Then the magic started. We were on a safari vehicle, watching and photographing animals! Pinch me, I think I am dreaming! The animal viewing was great and there were so few vehicles and people, it was jaw dropping! The people of Kenya needed us there even more than we needed to be there. I felt so good about helping a little by being there. I got my ‘Africa experience’, but more importantly, some funds and some hope were given to the Kenyan people.

This was a dream trip for us and yes, I am still amazed and forever grateful that AAC was able to make it happen!

Good morning all,

I want to express our gratitude to you and your staff for putting such an amazing trip to four of Tanzania’s National Parks.

All aspects of the trip were exceptional, flight with Qatar airlines, Asilia camps and staff, wildlife viewing. Thank to Felix, our guide at Roho ya Selous, we saw African Wild Dogs for the first time in 10 years!

To think that you put together this great adventure in less than a month! Thanks as always for your expertise; you know what Connie and I look for in our trips to Africa and deliver.

Hey Ian,

Sorry for the delayed response… getting back to real life has been difficult😊

I’m still in awe about everything. This was by far and away the most profound exciting adventure my wife and I have ever had.

You guys are absolutely stellar at what you do. Again, a huge thanks for handling every detail with such care and precision… I really don’t have the words just yet!

As with the prior trips booked through AAC, we had a near perfect experience.  Great wildlife, wonderful staff and facilities, and uneventful transitions between our camps.

At Namiri Plains, we saw a rhino where there are not supposed to be rhinos.  Talk about lucky!

As mentioned above, Asilia was impressive, and I would gladly recommend them.

Thank you for your patience with us in booking this safari.  Already looking forward to the next one!

What a fantastic safari, from start to finish!

Our wildlife sightings in Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti were all so wonderful – every day brought an unexpected delight! Our wildlife sightings included iconic species like elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards and cheetahs, to numerous birds and several unique mammals (like serval, caracal and aardwolf).

What’s more, we were surprised to find that we had these wildlife seemingly to ourselves. We went hours without seeing another vehicle.
