Ian Flores and Kollin Buchholz in South Africa & Botswana

November 21, 2016 According to AAC's Consultants

AAC Staff Members Ian and Kollin in Cape Town and Okavango Delta – Day 08

We sadly leave Savuti Camp after our short time here. We now head the mighty Victoria Falls. This was the perfect time to visit. The water was low, so there was still enough flow over the falls for us to wear ponchos to keep us dry from the spray, but low enough where we managed to get some beautiful shots with rainbows! Cynthia took us around and had so much information about the area, history, local politics and so much more. She was amazing and was easy to laugh. The more you ask the more you will learn so come with questions. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide and glad she is guiding our clients.

We ended our trip with a zip line across Batoka gorge! What a way to get a surge of adrenaline before flying home. If you want the full adrenaline experience you probably want to do either a bungee jump, or even better go for a gorge swing!

We have reached paradise! This camp is amazing. On arrival we were greeted by Quest and greeted with cool pre-soaked towels and refreshing beverage. The camp overlooks this waterhole and hide where elephants are just streaming in and out all day long. You can watch as one herd moves in and waits it’s turn while the others drink and play before they get their turn. It’s very civilized and amazing to watch. That afternoon we went into the hide with our guide Goodman and were surrounded by elephants. It was amazing! They say that this area has now just entered into its new dry phase which will be amazing for game viewing, and we believe it! There’s lots of wild dog in the area and some other game is coming back that haven’t seen in a while. Everyone is saying this will be the best spot for game viewing in the Linyanti Concession. 4-stars across the board for Savuti Camp!

We continued to the periphery of the Moremi to Chitabe Lediba. This is a great camp and this one of the great managers we’ve met so far. Moalosi is big guy with a jolly laugh and inviting spirit. The game viewing was great and spent a lot of time with a pride of about 16 lions, made up of 11-12 cubs that were playing and wrestling and just being cats. It was great! On the way back at night we spotted two big porcupines!

Cape Town was spectacular. Lucija was an absolute pleasure as our guide and we were extremely lucky to have met her and spend the day with her touring Cape Town. Gale force winds yesterday forced us to skip Table Mountain and we honestly didn’t even miss it because Lucija had a packed day for us in the peninsula, Cape point, lunch in Simonstown, a little city touring and orientation and Signal Hill at sunset!

Checked into Kwetsani today.  We saw leopard on arrival on the way to camp from the airstrip.

We’ve had a couple of fantastic days at Vumbura. Our guide Chris was awesome as was the entire camp staff. Utmost professionalism and knowledge. We are learning constantly. Termites, tree classification, unique selling points for both Vumbura and Kwetsani. We had game drives morning and night at Little Vumbura and finished our last night with a boat trip and some fishing for bream.
