2022 Fall Galloping Gnus Newsletter

November 28, 2022 Galloping Gnus Newsletter

Greetings AAC friends and family!

As we come to the end of Fall, it is the season to reflect and give thanks.

I am writing this from Nairobi and I am so thankful to be back in Africa and visiting both Kenya and Tanzania. My adventure has included Ol Jogi, Mara Nyika in Naibosho Conservancy and Singita Sabora within the Grumeti Reserves. To catch up with old friends and colleagues that I have known for decades was restorative to my soul. The game viewing was extraordinary and it has brought hope to the future of wildlife management and the new conservation efforts known as “rewilding”.

As Africa continues to become an increasingly popular destination, the quality and diversity of experiences have increased as well. Our sales consultants have been busy: Elena, Kyle and Miles recently returned from their travels in Southern Africa.  To discover how the definition of “safari” is broadening, read their AAC TRAVEL BLOG posts.

Nowadays, a safari increasingly involves stepping out of your vehicle to observe wildlife in a completely different way. Several examples of this include joining a guide on a walk, boat cruise or a canoe ride. It could also mean hiking to less accessible areas offering magnificent scenery. For those keen for a bird eye’s view, a hot-air balloon ride. For others, it means the pursuit of the most unforgettable sunset!

For many, a “safari” is a journey that offers the most rewarding opportunities to learn about and support  local communities in meaningful ways to make an impact for future generations.

Alison has curated a list of Our Most Intriguing Places to Stay in 2023. Each of them are intimate in size, and in unique locations. Perfect for our AAC safariers looking for that special experience!

Our 21st annual photographic competition is ongoing for 2022 trips so please submit your photos by January 14, 2023.

We are thankful for our AAC family and friends! Wishing you all a bountiful Thanksgiving and chats around the table about future safari travels!
