Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is on the edge of the Parc National des Volcans near park headquarters. The lodge has been designed and built by the Governors Group of Camps and is owned by the local community trust called SACOLA.
The lodge comprises a main lodge building, including bar, dining room, library, games room, reception, shop and community awareness centre, and two guest
suites, five cottages and one family complex. The lodge will accommodate 16 – 20 clients in the utmost comfort. The altitude of the lodge is approximately
7,000 feet above sea level so the climate is generally cool, and the volcanoes rise to a height of almost 15,000 feet.
All guest rooms and suites are individual cottages carefully positioned on the undulating site to take full advantage of the wonderful views of the Virunga
Volcanoes whilst retaining as much privacy as possible. Cottages are comprised of sitting room, fire place, dressing room, large bathroom with all
modern amenities and veranda.
Gorilla trekking is not the only activity on offer. Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge provides the perfect base from which to explore this fascinating area. You
may wish to visit the bustling nearby market town of Musanze, the beautiful lakes Kivu, Burera, Ruhondo and Karago, the genocide memorials, or the
community and conservation projects organized by SACOLA.
**The lodge provides rain jackets, backpacks, gators, gloves and walking sticks for your convenience.
