Katara Lodge

Katara Lodge is located on the Kichwamba Escarpment overlooking the open savannah. Accommodations include seven thatched cottages. Each spacious cottage was handcrafted using locally available materials and carved into the hillside by the Katara village community. The cottages combine en suite facilities, wooden floors, grass-thatched roofs and canvas that can be folded away for uninterrupted views of the park stretching out below. You may choose to start the evening with a sundowner on the private veranda perched on stilts. The more adventurous can spend the night under the African sky on a four-poster star bed.

The area boasts of 72 craters and several undulating hills and valleys that together provide very beautiful scenery. The lodge is a short (15km) drive from the main entrance of Queen Elizabeth National Park. While based at Katara, there are a variety of activities available such as game drives, cruise on the Kazinga channel, guided nature walks in the Maramagambo Forest, scenery viewing and interpretive village walk.
