Voluntourism - Helping Conservation and Community

Booking a safari with AAC is more than just game viewing; there is purpose to making a difference! We are very involved in many African communities, giving back to conservation projects, and supporting guides at grass roots level.  As tourists to Africa often feel a strong connection to the people and places they visit, we aim to act as a “connector” to a project, helping people to find each other to make a positive difference in education, conservation and cultural exchange.

We know these projects are small efforts, but they can make a big impact one project-one person at a time.  Our tours incorporate visiting these projects, and your donation associated with taking the trip, helps support the communities and conservation projects.  These are meaningful exchanges with the local people, participating with a purpose to donate time, skills and donations to leave a lasting impression.

We have several Responsible VolunTourism initiatives where you can stay in camps that are supporting local conservation efforts including Ndarakwai in Tanzania, Vundu and Amalinda in Zimbabwe, Desert Rhino in Namibia, and Mashatu in Botswana.  day and night game drives, There are so many other properties that we can include on a tour starting with those that are listed on our website on About Us/Supporting Africa. For clarification, VolunTourism implies that there is a tourism element combined with a traditional safari trip.  A volunteer trip is where volunteer work is the focal point, not sustainable tourism activities.

At the community level we assist students’ education as it is our hope they will be able to go onto a career in the wildlife, conservation or tourism field.  This is mainly assisting with sponsorship of school children in areas near National Parks including Matobo Hills and Mother Africa, Hwange, and Tarangire and Karatu. Also in towns like Arusha and Victoria Falls, and the city of Cape Town.

As a commitment to sustainable photographic tourism, we are major supporters of Wilderness Safaris portfolio of camps in Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa. Beyond the outstanding safari experience they deliver, we know that for every bed night we book with them, a portion of the price goes towards all the projects within their Wilderness Wildlife Trust.
