Martin Mallya

Martin was born in 1976 on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. He attended Kilimanjaro Primary School and Ushirika Secondary School.

Martin grew up under guidance of his grandmother who would tell him stories about birds and animals. This led Martin to develop passion and interest in wildlife and birds and in 1998 he enrolled in the Mount Meru School of Guides.

He continued to pursue his passion on a 6 month field attachment as part of the course. Given the opportunity to work in the bush Martin took up short term contracts as a camping assistant, where he spent time in the bush and learnt the logistics of camping. He continued with Camping jobs in various camps until January 2002 when he then joined Mwewe Training School. He obtained a certificate as a Ranger level 2 and was employed immediately upon graduation based at Kleins Camp, Grumeti River Camp, Serengeti UnderCanvas, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, and Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. In 2010 he started as a driver guide. Martin has obtained a certificate in Ornithology (Fundamentals of Ornithology).

His hobbies include reading newspapers, magazines, nature walks, adventures, watching movies and all sports.

Martin is married with 2 children, Wayne (born in 2004) and Wendy (born in 2013).
