Shompole Wilderness
Near Natron and Magadi soda lakes, lies Shompole Wilderness, which sits on the bank of the Ewaso Ng’iro River. Constructed from natural materials, each of the six tented rooms consists of a large wooden deck, a bathroom with a view and a specially-designed tent which includes vast windows and a high canopied roof. The main lounge and dining area consists of expansive decking with river views and between activities, guests can relax by the camp swimming pool.
There is a great range of activities offered from guided walks, river trips, night drives, local community home visits, and even the opportunity to go for a jog. The experience and skills of Maasai guides and trackers play an important part in the experience on offer. Activities are unscheduled and organized according to your preferences of guests, also allowing ample time to relax and enjoy the facilities of the camp itself.
Shompole Wilderness has three photography hides, the latest of which is the Kichaka Hide set in a more bushy area with thick grass. Offering great day and night photography, the hides are specially designed to offer the opportunity to get close up to some of the more rare and shy wildlife.
