Grumeti River Lodge
Grumeti River Lodge is set at the edge of a permanent oxbow pan formed by an overflow of the Grumeti River. The ten flamboyant tents under thatch are decorated with vibrant kente cloth and local sculptured furnishings. Each of the spacious twin-bedded tents has a private bathroom that also has a shower that is open to the sky under its wrought iron dome. The domed bar is perfect for sundowners overlooking the river. A secluded sheltered boma ensures star studded romantic dinners. The camp also has a swimming pool and leisure deck - both perched on the banks of the river where guests can view abundant pools of hippo at play. A curio shop and gallery is located near to the reception area.
Supporting lush riverine forest, the Grumeti River provides a sharp contrast to the surrounding plains and hosts some of the Serengeti's more unusual species, such as the black and white colobus monkey. Activities include game drives, walking /hiking, and optional balloon safari or day excursions to Lake Victoria (30 miles to the west).
