(Day 02+03) *Windhoek/Sossusvlei*
[This morning your guide will pick you up at your hotel. Drive southwest through the scenic Khomas Hochland highlands before heading down the Great Escarpment into the Namib Desert below, stopping for a picnic lunch at a scenic location along the way. You arrive at the Dead Valley Lodge in the mid-afternoon. If there is still time today, your guide will take you to visit Sesriem Canyon, a nearby geological attraction, or explore Elim Dube. Next morning excursion to the Namib Naukluft National Park. Arriving at sunrise allows you to capture the dunes in the best light. This area boasts some of the highest free-standing sand dunes in the world. Once you have explored Sossusvlei, Deadvlei and surrounding dune fields, enjoy a picnic brunch in the shade of a camel thorn tree. You then return to your lodge in the early afternoon in time for a late lunch, with the option to visit Sesriem Canyon afterwards (if it was not visited the day before). (Day 04+05) *Sossusvlei/Swakopmund*
[This morning there is an optional balloon safari or a scenic flight over the Namib Naukluft National Park available prior to your group's departure (additional fees apply and must be pre-booked). Depart with your guide and continue on to Swakopmund, which is charming with its distinctive continental air and historic buildings. There will be time to explore the town with its craft shops and cafes. Arrive in time to explore the town before enjoying a group dinner at a popular seafood restaurant. Next day enjoy a scenic morning drive along the coast to Walvis Bay for a kayak trip around the lagoon. The kayaking is an ideal way of seeing Cape fur seals, Heaviside and bottlenose dolphins, pelicans, flamingos and a wide variety of other sea birds. If you are lucky, there is also a chance of seeing whales, leatherback turtles and sunfish. For those not wanting to partake in the kayaking, an alternative seal and dolphin cruise on a motorized boat is available.
