AAC Staff Member Monica in Uganda

Our group July departure of the Primates and Plains is into Day 04 with Monica sending through some chimp trekking experiences in Kibale Forest, Uganda.

Monica in Uganda – Day 05

Driving into Queen Elizabeth National Park following the Ruwenzori Mountain Range. Take an afternoon game drive on the way to Mweya lodge. What sightings; lion and leopard!

Monica in Uganda Day 07
Enroute to Bwindi for the exciting first gorilla trek tomorrow. Look what our sighting was driving out of Ishasha this morning – the famous tree climbing lions!

Monica in Uganda Day 09

Today is a day I won't easily forget. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest was incredible. With only 880 mountain gorillas left in the wild, it was such a privilege to be so close to them! The near vertical hike (up, down, and back up) to find them only took an hour and 20 minutes.

Monica in Rwanda Day 11

Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park wasn't in the park at all. The gorillas came out of the forest to see us today in the farms! This Mzungu saw the Sabyinyo group.

Sabyinyo Group: (16 members)
Historically this group is the easiest to trek. It is lead by “Guhonda” who is the heaviest silverback in the area. Guhonda is not so easy going and has been known to charge but he is just bluffing.
