Meet our Africa Experts

Our team of safari consultants have traveled to Africa – indeed many having lived there – and will combine their first-hand knowledge of each country, listen to your ideas, and then go to work to help you plan your wildlife safari down to the very last detail. What we offer you is an established reputation of delivering an exceptional service with a customized approach. We are the essential component to having the ‘safari of a lifetime’ experience.

"The key," says Mark "is to understanding the travel style of the client and also the personal experience each individual is looking for in their Africa trip, then to match those with the optimum itinerary. This can be accomplished only if the person advising the client has extensive on-site experience in all the safari countries. Office training cannot substitute for actually having been there."

Whether you want a scheduled tour or a tailor-made itinerary, the Africa Adventure Company has the expertise to precisely fit your needs. The experience will surely exceed your personal expectations! Click on our AAC Blog to see more.

Mark Nolting - President

Born in Minneapolis, grew up and educated in Florida. Mark founded The Africa Adventure Company 26 years ago after spending 2 years traveling through 16 countries, from Cairo to Cape Town, gathering material for his books and establishing contacts with safari companies and tour guides. Mark offers exceptional knowledge of traveling within Southern and East Africa and excels in matching you to key guides who he has known in the industry during the last 25 years.

Mark most recently traveled to the Private Reserves of South Africa (Kwande and Tswalu) in May 2014. Further previous trips were in the Selous and Serengeti in Tanzania, and the Mara in Kenya, to see many of the new camp openings.

Author of 2 award-winning books, "Africa's Top Wildlife Countries" and "African Safari Journal", Mark is known in the industry as one of the "Travel Expert of Africa". Though Mark has essentially covered the African continent in his journeys, he continues to travel often to update information and explore new areas. Hard to find information on Africa is always at his fingertips, and he loves to take the time to talk to people about the many adventures that can be found on the continent. His latest family trip was visiting Zimbabwe with his two teenage sons and doing the fun activities of walking with elephant, tracking rhino and wild dog, and canoeing the Zambezi. The Omo River trips in Ethiopia are still some of his favorite remote adventures.

Alison Nolting - Director of Tours and Marketing

Alison has over 20 years of experience in the travel industry. She was born and grew up in Zimbabwe, worked in a safari camp there, and has traveled with Mark and their two boys as a family, to over 10 countries in Africa.  After running the safari camp and working in London, Alison moved to the USA in 1991. Beyond going on numerous safaris in Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa, Alison has been canoeing on the Lower Zambezi, gorilla and chimp trekking in Uganda, adventuring in the Skeleton Coast, and even honeymooned in the Seychelles. Over the years she has taken 18 or so trips with her children.

Botswana and 15 camp visits was one of her most recent trip. Establishing a relationship with camp guides is the key to offering refreshing trips each year. A prior trip to Zimbabwe led to the development of the award winning safari "Eyes on Elephant". The enjoyment of sharing the close-up encounters with elephant, with her two sons, in Hwange and Mana Pools put this at the top of her all time favorite wildlife experience! This is closely followed by the gorillas and the country of Uganda.

Active in her community, Alison is past President of the Florida Chapter of the Association for the Promotion of Travel to Africa (APTA) and streamlines all our sponsorship of scholarships for children in Africa.  She is closely associated with communities in Zimbabwe and Tanzania.
