Jabshir, as he is known, was born in 1965 in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania at the slopes of the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. After high school, he joined Singachini Teachers Training College in Moshi where he graduated in 1988 as a trained primary school teacher. After his teaching training, he felt his interests were more in travelling and talking to people hence he decided to join tourism industry where he would interact more with the outside world and share his knowledge. He joined a tour company in 1991 and received training as a guide. In 1996 he joined Ranger Safaris, and was our "Guide of the year" for 2010.

He is married and has 4 children namely Cyprian born in 1989, Abdul born in 1996, Baraka born in 2002 and the last born Zainab born late 2008. He enjoys guiding, bird watching, travelling, watching television and reading books. He speaks English, Swahili and his mother tongue, Kirangi.
