Hamza has worked at Asilia since 2012 when he graduated from Mweka College and is now Asilia’s Head Guide for northern Tanzania. He joined our training programme in Tarangire National Park for immersive training in the bush and has quickly risen to become one of Asilia’s best and most highly-requested guides. His wide smile and warm personality make him an instant hit with our guests, and his passion for wildlife and conservation are infectious.

He started guiding at Dunia in the central Serengeti and spent four years working there and at other Serengeti camps including our mobile migration camps. From there, Hamza spent a season on Rubondo Island, experiencing an entirely different ecosystem and showing guests the stunning birdlife and unique other species that live there, including spotted necked otters and sitatunga.

He spent many years based in Southern Tanzania, working at Kwihala in Ruaha, and training up and leading our guiding team when we opened Roho ya Selous in the Selous Game Reserve in 2017. Hamza is a qualified walking guide and uses his experience to mentor and train up-and-coming guides in all aspects of their role.
