Fidel is a Kamba from Machakos the flat plains land below Nairobi to the South.
Fidel specializes in ornithology and is a keen and accomplished wildlife photographer. His interest in nature began at school, when he joined The Wildlife Clubs of Kenya.
After completing "O" levels in Nairobi Fidel joined the National Museums of Kenya as a volunteer in their ornithology department, responsible for arranging many of the birds eggs and slides and where he also took part in the general waterford census on the various Rift Valley Lakes.
Fidel regularly participates in World Bird Watch Day and in 1997, with several colleagues, won the worldwide competition by seeing a total of 278 species in a mere 24 hours.
He is one of our longest serving guides. Fidel holds a diploma in Tour Guiding from Kenya's Utalii College, a Diploma in The Fundamentals of Ornithology, and has a special interest in wildlife photography and art. When not on safari he lives in Nairobi with his wife and his young son.
Fidel is an expert guide, sought after by photographers and ornithologists in particular, and has achieved the coveted Silver Level certificate from the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA).
