Desderius Roman Shirima

Desderius (Roman) is one of our most popular guides. A chagga from Rombo, one of the last of the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Roman remembers the first ever safari to pass through his village when aged four.

He began his guiding career at the National Museum of Kenya, went through the Ministry of Tourism guiding course, and spent time doing some Eco field-guide training. He has recently spent four years at Mweka Wildlife College.

A lifetime on safari and in tourism has allowed him to learn Italian and French, in addition he speaks English and Kiswahili and Kirangi.

Desderius was born in 1965 and is married with three children (Gilbert, Deiselynn and Dargelynn).
