Anderson Sekgwa

Andy was born at a remote cattle post in Botswana called Shrobe, some 30 kms from Maun, in 1969. As a young boy, Andy would go out into the bush with his grandfather who would teach him about the native flora and fauna as well as aspects of local history.

Andy joined Okavango Wilderness Safaris in 1987 and worked for nine years as a safari assistant, during which time he got to travel with one of the founders of Wilderness Safaris, and a skilled guide, Colin Bell. As a safari assistant he was involved in every aspect of running a mobile expedition, including setting up camp, cooking, collecting water and wood, guarding camp and vehicle repairs. Armed with years of practical experience, Andy qualified as a professional guide in 1996 and has been guiding expeditions between Victoria Falls and Maun ever since.

Andy’s chief interest was initially mammals but after more than two decades in the safari industry his interests have expanded and developed. His extensive general knowledge of the nature, history and culture of his native country make Andy a memorable and sought-after guide.
