Camp Moremi is built on the Xakanaxa Lagoon, in the eastern region of the Okavango Delta within the Moremi Game Reserve. The Moremi Reserve rates as one of the best and most beautiful in southern Africa and both game and birds are diverse and plentiful. Mopane forests, open grassland, seasonal floodplains and riverine habitats have formed, creating one of the most significant animal sanctuaries in all Africa. Possible sightings include wild dog, cheetah, leopard, lion, elephant and buffalo.
Camp Moremi’s elevated main lounge is the focal point of the camp and houses a library, the dining room and cocktail bar, all shaded by giant ebony trees and overlooking the lagoon. The camp accommodates only 22 guests in East African style safari tents with private en suite facilities. A sundeck, plunge pool, covered boma and an elevated game-viewing platform round out your camp experience.
Regarding game viewing, we can now say that Mary and I have seen 4 out of the Big Five (I guess we have to come back some day to add the Rhino to our list). Although you can't get as close to the animals, we really liked the walking safaris at Camp Okavango; there is something special about walking where the animals walk and you get to experience some of the subtle things that you may not get to see on a game drive. Also, got some great pictures of Hippos yawning. Our guide at Camp Okavango was Obed and he was super. The game drives were fantastic at Camp Moremi and Camp Savuti. At Moremi our guide Banda showed us lots of lions and African buffalo as well as other game. Banda was great at tracking the gam e and was a really nice man. At Savuti, we got some good pictures of leopards and elephants. With regards to the mechanics of the trip, everything went perfect; all transfers and flights went very smooth. We just might have a few pictures to enter int o your photo contest and, once we go through them, we'll share some of them with you!Read More
