Selous Private Camp

With its' own swimming pool, dining area, vehicles, boats, guides, managers and gourmet bush cuisine, Selous Private offers the very best in time-honored safari style to the privileged few that stay there.

The four opulent tented suites are appointed along the banks of Lake Nzerakera, with definitive views of the wildlife and the dramatic Selous sunsets. Designed to maximize on ventilation, whilst blending seamlessly into the game-rich wilderness that surrounds it, the hexagonal shape catches the lake breeze, whilst still maintaining maximum privacy. The adjacent dual-vanity bathrooms feature tasteful antique fittings and raindance showers beneath the stars.

Almost everyone comes here for the game and viewing from the open 4x4 vehicles, specially adapted for close-up game viewing, are made early morning and in the evening. On the Rufiji River and its many tributaries, channels and lagoons, the camp offers game viewing by boat, an opportunity for guests to obtain close-up photographs and views of the many hippo wallowing in the water and the large crocodiles lurking on the banks. Fishing is also popular. Walking safaris are also a ‘must do’ here, for the guides are extremely proficient at bringing the bush alive with stories. In the afternoon, when it is hot, you may just lie around the pool.
