The Khwai Concession is the eastern-most branch of the Okavango Delta and is a mutual blending of water and forested islands, joined by thousands of waterways that alter each with the flood.

The acacia-lined Khwai River itself is the sole source of water for miles around, and is frequented by a spectacular array of game. This is the raptor capital of Botswana: bateleur, tawny, martial and brown snake eagles line the river bank alongside lanner falcons, not only to drink in this isolated stretch of water, but also to feed on millions of quelea which flock to the river to quench their thirst. Lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena are commonly sighted at Khwai.
