Chada Katavi

Chada Katavi is the sanctuary within Katavi National Park, no less or more than that. It’s deliberately simple: from the food to the furniture: good, tasteful, and unpretentious. Breakfast is under the trees, lighting is solar, beds (with linen sheets) are under canvas, hot showers are hung from a bush behind each of the six tents.

But if that’s all a bit too much, you’re encouraged to do the real thing, with bedrolls and mosquito nets by an open fire in the Star Camp, which moves around, with its cushions and hammocks, off in the wilderness beyond. Wherever you are, the food is fresh, hearty and delicious, wines are good, the table (if there is one) generously laid. And don’t forget the wild social life –cocktails with the lions, dinner with the elephants.
